Visa Note and Fees
The European Commission has announced an increase in visa fees, raising the cost for adults from EUR 80 to EUR 90 and for children from EUR 40 to EUR 45. This new fee structure will take effect on June 11th. All visa applications submitted globally on or after this date will be subject to the updated fees. Schengen State: Please read this note for all Schengen Countries.
Schengen Territory: Indian Nationals can obtain short stay visa for a period ranging from one to ninety days, valid for all countries of the Schengen Territory i.e. Austria, Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden & Switzerland. Foreigners bearing a valid stay permit delivered by one of the Schengen states can leave and later re-enter the Schengen Territory without having to ask for a visa again, on condition that they have a valid passport and relevant travel document and a multiple entry visa. Application for visas have to be submitted with the competent Consular authorities, which are to be determined according to the following criteria.
If the Applicant intends to stay in one Country only, the application should be submitted at the Representation of the same Country. If the Applicant wishes to travel to several Member States, the application should be submitted at the Representation of the Country where the main purpose of travel lies, determined by the duration of the stay. If the main destination cannot be ascertained, the Country of the first port of entry into Schengen Territory is regarded as the competent Consular office for processing the application. Long term visas are still subject to the laws of the Country of Destination. They must be applied for at the Consular Authorities of the concerned Member States.

- A Cover letter explaining the purpose of the trip and a detailed itinerary detailing each location to be visited and duration of stay at each location.
- The passport should be valid for at least three months beyond the intended duration of stay in the Schengen territory. Passports valid for more than 10 years will not be accepted as the main required travel document. It is mandatory to have two blank pages opposite to each other.
- Application form to be filled in completely and signed by the applicant.
- Two recent passport-size (35-45 mm in width) photographs in colour according to EU norms. The photographs must be: no more than 6 months old, close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph, photographs taken with a digital camera must be high quality colour and printed on photo-quality paper.
- Round-trip flight reservations - travel itinerary: airline reservation and proof of other means of travel within Austria/EU in case of onward travel.
- Proof of accommodation: hotel reservation / letter of tour organizer and / or other appropriate documentation indicating the envisaged travel plans within Austria / EU.
- Valid permit to return to India e.g. valid resident or return visa for citizens of other countries residing in India (if applicable)
- Proof of occupation:
- Employed: Salary certificate of the last three (3) months of present occupation, employment contract plus company NOC to leave. Also, please mention official email address of the applicant or email address HR department on the application form OR business card mentioning the official email ID of the applicant.
- Self-employed: GST certificate/ Udhyog Aadhar Memorandum/ Import Export Certificate/ Certificate of Incorporation etc.
- Retired: pension statements for last 3 months and/or proof of regular income generated by ownership of property or business. Student: Proof of enrollment/ registration in school/ College/ University.
- Proof of sufficient funds
- Original bank statements of the last three (3) months and / or other funds available (pension etc.)
- Income Tax Acknowledgement / ITR-V from the last three (3) years .
- In case of a minor
- a minor accompanied by one parent shall provide a Original notarized NOC by the other parent , plus copies of parents passports or ID
- a minor travelling alone shall provide a Original notarized NOC by both parents / legal guardians, plus copies of parents passports or ID
- Copy of passport, visa/s and stamps (if any)
- Applicant can be asked for additional documents or may be called for an interview if deemed necessary by the Embassy.
- Please make sure that Air Ticket, Invitation, Insurance and Covering Letters have matching dates. All supporting documents must be submitted together- in original and duplicate/photocopy.
- Application form, declaration and undertaking and requisite document must be signed by the Applicant. Representative and Travel Agents must bring the above signed documents at the time of submission.
- Overseas Medical Travel insurance valid for all Schengen-countries with a minimum coverage of 30,000 EURO. The insurance has to cover all risk e.g. accident, illness, etc. The policy has to clearly specify the period of validity and has to cover the date of arrival and departure has to be submitted in original along with a photocopy. Applicants may obtain Travel Insurance from any Schengen approved company.
- Processing time 15 working days. That period may be extended up to a maximum of 30 calendar days.
- The submission and collection of your visa application and passport from VFS can be done either by the applicant himself/herself or through any authorized person who bears an original authorization letter signed by the applicant and a photo-ID of the authorized person.

- Immediate Family Member only (I.e. Parents, siblings, children) - Relationship proof needs to be furnished at the time of collection.
- One member of the group collecting for the entire group.
- A person collecting on behalf of Govt. officials, only if the authorization letter is on the Govt. letter head.
- Company Representative should present - Authorization letter on the Company letter head and the official ID card.
If any of the above comes for passport collection they need to carry the following documents:-
- Original ICR.
- Passport copy of the applicants.
- Authorization letter from the applicant. (If one member of the group is collecting the passport on behalf of the entire group - authorization letter from all the other applicants is mandatory).
- Clear photocopy of the Govt. ID card will only be accepted at time of passport collection (eg. PAN Card, Driving License, Aadhar Card, Passport, Voter ID Card).
Mode of payment:
- All VISA Fees and Service Charge can be paid by Cash/Visa/Master Card/Rupay.
The visa fee, according to Schengen regulations, is non-refundable.
Mandatory Courier Facility available at INR 810/- per application.
All VFS service charges are inclusive of Goods & Service Tax –SGST @9% and CGST@9%) and convenience fees of INR 181 payable for provision of multiple mode of payment.

A Business Visa is given those who are doing business in Austria such as making sales or establishing contacts on behalf of a company outside India.

- In case the purpose of travel is other than business meetings (training, voluntary work or project work etc.): Permission by the Austrian Labor Market Authority “AMS”(Entsendebewilligung, Anzeigebestätigung) to be obtained by the inviting Austrian company.

Student visas are given to bona fide students to pursue regular studies at recognized institutions in Austria. The visa is multiple entries and valid for the period of study as approved by the educational institution in Austria.

- A Cover letter explaining the purpose of the trip including detailed description of your proposed course of study.
- The passport should be valid for at least three months beyond the intended duration of stay in the Schengen territory. Passports valid for more than 10 years will not be accepted as the main required travel document. It is mandatory to have two blank pages opposite to each other.
- Application form to be filled in completely and signed by the applicant.
- Two recent passport-size (35-45 mm in width) photographs in colour according to EU norms. The photographs must be: no more than 6 months old, close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph, photographs taken with a digital camera must be high quality colour and printed on photo-quality paper.
- Round-trip flight bookings - travel itinerary: airline reservation and proof of other means of travel within Austria/EU.
- Proof of accommodation in Austria or letter of acceptance at the school’s / college’s / university’s dormitory).
- Valid permit to return to India e.g. valid resident or return visa for citizens of other countries residing in India (if applicable).
- Proof of sufficient funds to cover overall cost of living during the probable duration of study in Austria.
- Confirmation of present student status e.g. original letter from school / college / university, student card, certificates etc.
- Certificate of admission or registration at an educational institute for the purpose of attending academic or vocational courses, or cover letter from the host company.
- Electronic letter of guarantee - EVE or GVE - Elektronische Verpflichtungserklarung or Generalverpflichtungserklarung http://www.bmi.gv.at/cms/BMI_Fremdenpolizei/einreise_visa/Visum_6.aspx
(to be obtained from the Austrian business with the competent, Fremdenpolizeibehorde at the appropriate regional office in Austria (if applicable) or in case of GVE at the Austrian Ministry of Interior. - Evidence of payment of tuition fee or acceptance of scholarship for the intended studies in Austria.
- A permission letter from school/college where applicant is attending, confirming the absence of leave for the duration of studying in Austria (if applicable).
- Minor travelers:
- a minor accompanied by one parent shall provide an Original notarized NOC by the other parent , plus copies of parents passports or ID.
- a minor travelling alone shall provide an Original notarized NOC by both parents / legal guardians, plus copies of parents passports or ID.
- Copy of passport, visa/s and stamps (if any).
- Overseas Medical Travel insurance valid for all Schengen-countries with a minimum coverage of 30,000 EURO. The insurance has to cover all risk e.g. accident, illness, etc. The policy has to clearly specify the period of validity and has to cover the date of arrival and departure has to be submitted in original along with a photocopy. Applicants may obtain Travel Insurance from any Schengen approved company.

- One member of the group collecting for the entire group.
- A person collecting on behalf of Govt. officials, only if the authorization letter is on the Govt. letter head.
- Company Representative should present - Authorization letter on the Company letter head and the official ID card.
If any of the above comes for passport collection they need to carry the following documents:-
- Original ICR.
- Passport copy of the applicants.

This category applies to persons who wish to travel to Austria for work more than 90 days up to 6 months. Confirmation of the Labour Market Service (AMS) is required.
