Dear Travel Partner,
Following the extension of the 30-day visa-free entry for Indian nationals into Malaysia, it has been observed that several Indian citizens arriving at Malaysian airports have been placed under the “Not to Land” (NTL) category by the Malaysian Immigration Authorities, thereby being denied entry into the country.
Common reasons for being placed in NTL include:
- Lack of sufficient funds for travel
- Lack of verifiable proof of accommodation
- Lack of genuine return ticket
- Prospect of violation of immigration regulations including seeking employment under this scheme
In such NTL cases, Indian nationals are required to remain at the airport of arrival in Malaysia until the airline that transported them arranges their repatriation to the airport of departure in India. At times, this process is delayed, resulting in passengers being stranded at Malaysian airports and facing avoidable hardships.
Indian nationals traveling to Malaysia are therefore strongly advised to adhere strictly to the immigration regulations of the Government of Malaysia under the 30-day visa-free entry scheme. Travelers must carry proof of sufficient funds for their stay, verifiable ccommodation details, and a valid return air ticket.
