Customers are reminded that their Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) letters will be issued by UKVI via email and may not be available at the same time as the passport being returned. These letters are automatically sent within three days of visa approval and will confirm the amount and type of leave that has been granted by UKVI, together with the arrangements for collecting the physical card after you have arrived in the UK. You can still travel to the UK without the letter, providing that you arrive in the UK within the validity of your visa.
Customers may receive their digital BRP letter either before or after being notified that the visa/passport is ready to be collected. Please note that customers who have opted for in-person collection of their passport should not attend the Visa Application Centre (VAC) until they have received a separate notification that the passport is ready. If you have purchased courier delivery we will advise you once your passport has been dispatched.
In order to receive the digital BRP letter, customers will need to ensure that they have provided a valid email address on their online visa application form and may also need to check their spam/junk folder. Customers who have used a third-party email address, such as a Travel Agent, will need to ensure that this third party shares your BRP letter with you.
Please note that:
- the provision of the BRP letter is free of charge.
- Customers should allow up to 3 days after collecting their decision for the BRP letter to be sent to their email address automatically by UKVI.
- If 3 days have passed and the email has still not been received, please email DecisionLetterRequests@fcdo.gov.uk to follow this up – please include your full name, date of birth, passport and GWF numbers within the email to ensure that UKVI are able to correctly identify your application.
